Wai Care and Why Care?
The Year 3s were lucky to have a speaker from Wai Care come to talk to us about water.
Do you know what the Maori word Wai means?
It means WATER!! Katherine from Wai Care created a really interesting power point about why we should care about the water in our gully stream.
Katherine used Google Maps to show us how the stream goes to the Orakei Basin and then out to the Waitamatea Harbour.
CLICK HERE to see a map of Meadowbank School and our gully stream.
We learned lots about storm water, urban areas, how we can help improve the health of our stream and LOTS more.
Soon we will be going down to the stream to collect samples to find out how healthy or unhealthy the stream is.
people should take care of water
